Garden in July

Published by under house,Oscar,Puppy,trips

Only a few more weeks to harvest, but we’re already pulling tomatoes, broccoli, and yummy New Mexico chile peppers. Just check out those pumpkin leaves on the far right! Next year, they’ll be going on the tier above the garden where they can really have room to spread and grow.

Lisa is trying hard to figure out where we are going in September, we’ll see how close she gets. :)

Edited to add: New toy for Puppy and Oscar.

My first guess

Published by under trips

The secret vacation is approaching and approaching fast. I think its time that I start guessing as to where we are going based on bits of information Michael is dropping.

Michael knows that I am happy anywhere we end up. I”m sure Michael put in some things that I like into this vacation so I know we are going to do some shopping and lots of walking. He said we will see boats, trains, planes and automobiles. My first guess of course will be New York! New York has all of those things as well as lots of shopping! I don’t see us in New York for two weeks, so I will have to put some more thought into where the second leg of our trip will be. I know it will be a car trip because Michael has kept the sattelite radio subscription active. So keep giving me hints Michael….I will have this figured out by the time we get on the plane (American Airlines flight number 1190 leaving ABQ on Sept. 4 @ 8:35 am stopping off in Chicago for a bit before heading to NY)

Roughing It

Published by under Midlife Crisis,trips

Another great Ouray trip! We took the boys and Midlife Crisis out for some off-roading this time around, and it was a blast, if not a bit harrowing. See, neither Lisa or I enjoy shelf roads with a 200 foot drop down a cliff just a half-Jeep away from us. It does get the adrenaline pumping, though. We did enjoy Yankee Boy Basin and the more leisurely Last Dollar Road outside Telluride, and hope to take much more challenging trails next time out.

We loved our room, and the kitchen was definitely on the small side:

Poor Lisa, though, had a few mishaps. On night one, she fell on the street and received a minor road rash:

And on our way out of town, in Ironton to be exact, she fell in a mud puddle:

She survived, though, which means we’ll be back in Ouray soon. It was our 3rd time there in the past 2 years, so obviously we love it there. We are really thinking it will be nice to retire there someday, if at all possible. I’d love to take Lisa back this December or January, just so she can get a feel for what Winters there will be like…
