We’re into the second week of our master bathroom remodel, and the contractors have just completed their third day of work. There have only been a few surprises that popped up while uncovering 30 years of construction. For instance, here’s the hole we found under the old shower pan:

But nothing major at this point; no mold issues or significant water damage, and the plumbing is complete and the electricity has been re-routed (our worries centered around wiring for a jetted tub, but it was all straightforward).

So far we’re really excited about the progress, and getting anxious to see the final results. We have no choice but to be patient, though!

We start the bathroom remodels with demolition this week. Lisa and I are doing the demo ourselves to pare down the budget, and the contractor begins in one week. I am of course taking pictures to document the entire process. To start, here are the before pics.

It’s our final major project on the house, a few years overdue, and we are both really, really looking forward to having this behind us!
