A very sad day

Today we had to say a very tearful goodbye to a member of our family who also happens to be the subject of many posts on this website. Our baby Junior a.k.a. Puppy left our world today. At 16 years old, he was still our special baby. We’ve had a lot of tears today and will have more in the coming days. He was a constant in our lives and always welcomed us home every day with a bark and a tail that wagged all the time! We love you Junior!

I got plenty of gifts this year like beautiful flowers, cute shoes, candles, Kohl’s cash, and sweet cards. The best gift of all is the time spent with these three! Michael and I miss having the girls around 24/7. Sounds crazy, but true. Even the iPad and Mercedes can’t make up for all the fun it is to be a mom!

Our Accent

This weekend’s project was a great one from Lisa, she thought an accent wall would look nice in our master bedroom. About 30 bucks for the paint, and we repainted the pocket door wall and for an added bonus, repainted the hallway.

to the age of 42 Mr. Zanussi! I hope you enjoy it as much as I have these past two months. So far it seems to be a pretty exciting age. I have discovered a few more grey hairs but I feel pretty fit since we have started going to the gym and now that we are working on the home improvements again we will both continue to be even more fit. Congratulations Michael on turning 42 first thing in the morning. You don’t look your age at all and I love you!!

Yes, I’m still in shock! I can’t believe we went from coast to coast in two weeks. What a great time. I think Michael should plan all of the vacations from now on. He did awesome and he can keep a secret really good. We are almost done with Christmas shopping, planning our Auntie Robin Thanksgiving and also planning a wedding right now, so we really needed that vacation. Thanks so much Hubby! You did an awesome job–can’t wait till next year!

Photos, Photos, and More Photos

I finally finished sorting through over 1400 pictures taken from our 2009 Mystery trip and and posted them to Picasa. You’ll find 500+ photos of Denver, San Francisco (including separate Russel Wright exhibit at the San Francisco airport), New York City, and Miami Beach. Now I just have to go through and add captions to all those pictures!

This was a trip of a lifetime, with so many memories. A number of things stand out for me:

How cold San Francisco was.
The booze cruise around San Francisco bay.
Breaking my finger climbing down to Sutro Baths ruins.
The NYC subway system.
9/11 in NYC.
Accidentally encountering Barack Obama in Wall Street.
My unexpected Miami Beach sunburn.
3 baseball games in 3 different cities.
The columbarium in San Francisco and the gothic churches in NYC.
The Italian influence in South Beach.
Hookers in the subway. Cranky ones at that.

Oh, the list could go on. But most memorable was hearing Lisa scream in delight when I told her finally where we’d be going, and of course watching the amazement and joy in her face those 2+ weeks we spent on both coasts.

Thanks for sharing this special time with me Lisa, can’t wait for next year!

Day 4

One of the weirdest sights we’ve ever seen, it was two 757s landing in parallel at San Francisco International airport, a thousand feet or so apart. Very, very cool though!

Our first day in San Francisco and we’ve already seen a lot: Fisherman’s Wharf, Boudin’s Bakery, the Golden Gate bridge and Alcatraz via a $15 fishing boat tour, tons of homeless people, homeless people screaming at each other, homeless people screaming at tourists, a very romantic dinner on the bay at sunset, San Francisco’s universal health care tax, a majestic view of the San Francisco city hall from our hotel room. Wow, talk about sensory overload. We’re bushed, and still a few more days here.

The cable cars, of course, we had to ride.
