How To Unwind After A Wedding…

Published by michael under trips, wedding

…hop on a flight to Las Vegas for a few days!

We haven’t been back for a few years, so there was a lot of new stuff to see. CityCenter is simply amazing, we’ll certainly have to stay there next time.

Robin came back with money, but the rest of us didn’t. I claimed the booby prize and brought back a nasty cold. Yuck.

The big day has finally come and so quickly gone, but what a time we all had! We’re a bit tired, so just a quick post. Congrats Shari and Darrell!

Auntie Robin

Published by michael under wedding

Auntie Robin has arrived, so if there is any choppy water in the days ahead, we have an extra deck hand! But things are going great, everything is on track for a wonderful wedding Saturday. It’s getting exciting, Lisa and I are definitely looking forward to having Darrell as part of our family.

Plus, we get to head to Las Vegas on Monday to decompress! Yes!

What El Nino?

Published by michael under ABQ, BlackBerry, wedding

Geez, it took nearly 3 weeks into the nuevo ano for me to put up the year’s first post. And there’s been a lot going on! Like getting things ready for Shari & Darrell’s wedding, compiling a huge todo list for 2010, upgrading the CrackBerries, getting my ass kicked by the AMT100i, drooling over the Wrangler side steps I got for Christmas but haven’t installed yet, purchasing our first composter, watching Conan go off on NBC, etc. Man, tons of stuff to post about.

No, for some reason I’ve been too lazy to post anything. I’ll blame it on my depression for the lack of any exciting weather. God, New Mexico can be boring at times. Sun, blue skies, mild temperatures. Yuck. A blizzard would be nice for a change.

In shock!

Published by lisa under holidays, love, trips, wedding

Yes, I’m still in shock! I can’t believe we went from coast to coast in two weeks. What a great time. I think Michael should plan all of the vacations from now on. He did awesome and he can keep a secret really good. We are almost done with Christmas shopping, planning our Auntie Robin Thanksgiving and also planning a wedding right now, so we really needed that vacation. Thanks so much Hubby! You did an awesome job–can’t wait till next year!

The Wedding Ceremony

Published by michael under beach, love, wedding

I uploaded the wedding ceremony to YouTube tonight. The stiff onshore breeze made it difficult for the audio, but if you listen close enough, you can make out the minister’s words, as well as my and Lisa’s vows. The video, though, really gives you a sense of how great our wedding was.

It was for Lisa and I a perfect ceremony, the words were lovely and timeless, and the beach location was more than we hoped for and imagined. I look at that clear blue water and pure white sand and wish I could be back there right now. We’ve promised ourselves that we’ll try to make it back every five years or so, just to relive this wonderful moment in our lives.

Honeymoon

Published by michael under love, trips, wedding

I added a couple of new links to our honeymoon photos this week, Bahamas 2008 and Ouray 2008.

Over the course of two weeks our honeymoon took us to Cocoa Beach, the Bahamas, Disney World, a July 4th Isotopes game, and the surprise for Lisa, Ouray, Colorado.

Lisa at Cascade Falls

The Ouray trip was strictly Lisa and me, and as you can see from the photo above at Cascade Falls, it was absolutely stunning. It was a blast swimming in some of the most beautiful waters in the world one week, then hiking in and around 14,000′ mountains in mid-summer the next week. It was unforgettable.

Check it out, there are tons of photos from all of our adventures (except Disney World… we learned our lesson last time that lugging a camera around four theme parks is a huge pain, so we opted out this trip).

While we’re still trying to locate a cocktail dress and a blazer, we just finished sending out thank you cards we created through Shutterfly, took advantage of Costco’s amazing photo print service and ordered some gorgeous wedding prints from the digital originals, and started preparations to create our very own wedding coffee book (via MyPublisher). So yeah, we’re still busy!

Michael is right!

Published by lisa under wedding

Marriage is a very good thing!  I am happier now than I ever thought I could be.  The trip was perfect and the wedding was a dream!  We have no complaints other than the part about some of our clothes did not come home with us!  Not sure at this point if they are on a Carnival Cruise or lost in an airport somewhere either.  We thought we might have down time after July 4, however it seems that we are busy as usual with trying to put the house together, going back to work and picking out pictures!  It is lots of fun and wonderful doing these things with your life partner for sure!!

Married!

Published by michael under wedding

Dear Lisa: I can honestly say I’m happier now than I have ever been in my entire life, baby. To say that marriage does not change you is quite untrue, as I love you now more than I ever have, and it grows stronger every single day. (Everything else, though, feels and stays the same!)

Lisa and Michael

We’ve been back about a week and a half now, but I still can’t get back into my normal routine. It was such a wonderful vacation/wedding/honeymoon, I really want to be back at a Bahamian beach or Colorado mountain right now!

The day of June 24th was just absolutely perfect, the ceremony and everything leading up to it and afterward was everything Lisa and I hoped it would be. Our wedding coordinator in Nassau, Anne Marie Williams of Weddings In The Bahamas, did a spectacular job for us, I couldn’t recommend her enough to anyone looking to have a destination wedding in the Bahamas. Just fabulous.

There is a lot more to say about our two weeks away that Lisa and I will surely write about in the coming weeks here on the website. A cruise to the Bahamas, two days in Cocoa Beach, another two in Disney World, plus three extraordinary days in Ouray, Colorado… wow, how does one summarize that. In between name changes, insurance updates, and picking pictures to hang, just to name a few, we’ll get to it eventually.

In the meantime, we’ve posted photos of the ceremony (courtesy of Vincent Vaughan of Bahamas Wedding Images) at Google and will update the Our Travelogues section to the left as we sift through over 1000 digital photos. I’ll also be figuring out how to edit video since we have some of the ceremony as well.

Stay tuned!
